Silvana Reggiardo was born in 1967 in Argentina. She lives and works in Paris.
Silvana Reggiardo’s photography is something of a sensitive experience – the experience of walking, of space; a visual, orchestrated experience. Without necessarily seeking to document reality, Silvana Reggiardo sees photography as a visual object rather than as a recording instrument.
Through this phenomenological approach, her research explores the optical dimension of photography – from the series objet télévision (object television, 1997), présences désagrégées (disintegrated presences, 2000), lieux communs: intérieurs (Common Places: Interiors, 2002) and W (2004) to the untitled series (2007) shot in New York – and/or the relationship between the image and its surface – untitled (2007) and l’air ou l’optique (the air or the optics, 2012).
Urban spaces are her favourite grounds of experimentation.
The photographic act enables her to access their specific optical dimension by playing on the opposition between opacity and transparency, interior and exterior, public space and private space, and by relying on the properties of modern architecture construction materials – mirror and two-way mirror glass, windowpanes and steel.
Galerie regard sud, Lyon, from February 20 to March 27, 2021
Sharing lockdown artworks or artworks hidden away in artist studios is the starting point of this exhibition which brings together the photographers Mélissa Boucher, Silvana Reggiardo and Laure Vasconi. No theme (apparently) links the different works. However, between them emerges a combination of emotions, ideas and common reflections on the act of photography. Curator: Frédérique Chapuis.

Group exhibition from September 19 to November 21, 2020. This cycle of exhibitions, conceived in three simultaneous sections with the Frac Normandie Rouen, the Ile-de-France Photographic Center and the Micro Onde art center, provides a panorama of the relationship between photography and abstraction in contemporary creation.
Without trying to document reality, Silvana Reggiardo records the light, photographs the air, captures color variations on urban glazing in an approach which considers photography as a visual object rather than as a recording instrument...

Silvana Reggiardo presented a show of her work Mercuriales in Tours, France. Discover here the exhibition's views.
