Exhibition from May 26 to May 30, 2021
And by appointment after May 30
For her first solo show at Galerie Mélanie Rio Fluency, Irma Kalt reveals a new series and produces a new installation designed specifically for the space. In Plis Plissés, she captures moments and gestures hidden in the folds of materials. As we contemplate her work, we complete the mental construction of these invisible places, whose future she entrusts to us.
About : Irma Kalt
Irma Kalt was born in Strasbourg in 1987.
After graduating in 2012 from the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Nantes Métropole, she pursued her artistic research within various collectives: The Second Kiss Company, Silence Fôret and Sill.
Her work revolves around a strong interest in line and pattern. She plays with the infinite probabilities offered by patterns. Stripes, grids and geometry are all tools that enable the artist to speak of space while developing a vocabulary of forms.
Whether in sculpture, drawing or installation, she constantly plays with the construction and deconstruction of everyday forms and objects. It's a never-ending game, because the probabilities are infinite. All her projects are continually reactivated under different guises. She attempts to reach the point where one form can become another by oscillating between different figures.
